Midwest Engineered Systems Hosts Tour for STEM Students

POSTED 02/27/2015

Waukesha WI- “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Students hear this question time after time; however, many are uncertain of a specific career path. This is an important decision that takes thoughtful consideration and research, but one of the best ways to determine the answer to this question is first-hand experience. Midwest Engineered Systems Inc., an innovative provider of premier custom machines and integrated systems, has assisted in this process by inviting young learners to tour their facility.

Midwest Engineered Systems welcomed 64 students from Lake Country STEM Academy on February 25, 2015 to encourage students to pursue jobs in manufacturing and engineering. CEO Scott Woida discussed job positions, such as mechanical and electrical engineering, automation technicians, and mechanical and electrical technicians by informing students about typical duties and expectations of each profession. Other Midwest Engineered Systems employees also shared their success stories by explaining the journey that led them to their chosen career.

In addition, Students were able to see Midwest Engineered System’s new 100,000 sq ft facility where they were able to witness these jobs in action. The students encountered the 20,000 sq ft machine shop, 20,000 sq ft “clean” assembly area, 45,000 sq ft high-bay assembly area, a UL panel shop, paint booth, fabrication & welding shop, and engineering offices.

These tours were aimed to help students understand the variety of careers that exist in engineering and manufacturing today. Midwest Engineered Systems hopes to inspire eager minds and help students determine a career path after school.
